What is your first impression of a 150 cm tall woman wearing an engagement ring with a diamond 0.8 carat size?

ENVY....
ho ai | Feb 19, 2008
Don't judge.
it's o.k. because the diamond is about love in action from her beloved.
Perhaps she is starting small and then it will lead to greater things.
Happy Rickety Geezerette | Feb 19, 2008
I don't think the size matters.
Praizegirls | Feb 19, 2008
You dont base the size of your ring on your height. It doesnt matter. What matter is what you can afford and what you feel comfortable wearing.
princessamy_21 | Feb 19, 2008
small things come in big packages =)

Well, I am 153cm & have a 1.5 carat engagement ring & my wedding ring equates to another point soooo my impressions is that she is a stunner & one lucky woman!!
Apathetic | Feb 19, 2008
Height has nothing to do with ring size.
winter_spice78 | Feb 19, 2008
My only first impression is of the person asking this question - that he/she seems way too concerned with appearances.
Skatin' | Feb 19, 2008
that's a small diamond.
ynra | Feb 19, 2008
what does the height of a person have to do with the size of a diamond? really, i'm curious!
you do know the whole engagement/wedding/love/commitment thing isn't about who has the biggest ring~right?
OZZIEGAL | Feb 19, 2008
What is the correlation between the two?
I wouldn't notice the diamond and I don't really notice height either, so I suppose it would depend on their other physical attributes.

I'd think "Lucky her". I don't judge people by what they look like or what they have, I am not that shallow.
sparkleythings_4you | Feb 19, 2008
the diamond is too small, so she is no customer of mine, unless the diamond is red !

what is a good diamond size for my finger?
Feb 04, 2009 by last_minute_shopper | Posted in Weddings
I have small hands, and my ring size is a 4 for thin ring and 4 1/2 for a thick ring ..so I would probably go with a thin one because it would be huge with the band beside it, so do you think a 1.2 ct is too big for my hand? should I go with something like a .7 or .8 or even less?
what do you guys think also my ring would have very small Diamonds on the sides and on the wedding band.
No diamond is too small or big for a finger. It's more about the woman's personal style and what she likes. As far as the bands, I would agree that sometimes slim or thick bands will look better on certain fingers, but as for the actual stone, that's preference. I suggest trying on many to get a feel for what you like, and how different carats are going to appear.

As a woman we want everything to be big but if it comes down to it just make sure its a real diamond and not a noid or a cubic
Jai H | Feb 04, 2009
My fiancee also has really small hands, 3 1/2 ring size. I got her a .44 ct center stone with small diamonds on either side, and it looks perfect on her tiny hands. Personally I think a 1.2 ct would look huge on her hand, but it also sounds like your boyfriend is WAY more loaded than I am, as a 1.2 ct stone is going to be well over 5 grand just for the rock.
David R | Feb 04, 2009
i have very small hands and a .25ct stone really works very well for my hands. i prefer a solitaire to a cluster and while i much prefer a wide band a slightly more narrow band looks so much nicer on small fingers. as for the wedding band if you can find one with small stones set in it - that would look lovely - if not then a simple gold band will look just as nice.
i have tried on many a ring and i have always found that the larger stones make my hands look bony and thin......the .25 stone stands out nicely on my small hands without making my hands look like a skeleton's hands~lol. my wedding band has three small chips of stone in it sitting nicely under the engagement ring.
whatever you choose i wish you much happiness!

no bigger is better, its more to show off
SiggySmalls | Feb 04, 2009
A good size diamond is one that you can afford, easily. Try on different size diamonds and see what looks good on your hand. 1/2 carat may look like 1 carat on your hand and like a tiny speck on mine. Good Luck.
loria a | Feb 04, 2009
I personally think 1.2 is WAY too big. I mean, it's all personal choice, so you'd have to try them all on, and compare settings, etc.
I just know that my finger is size 3.75 and when my fiance went to design my ring he had his mind (and budget) set on getting me a 3/4 (.75) carat centre diamond with two side stones (pink sapphires).
When the jeweler learned that my finger was smaller than a size 4 he recommended getting a smaller diamond (.6 carat tops) as to not be too bulky or look too big that it starts to look "costume-y".
My engagement ring is .6 carats centre diamond with two .3 carat pink sapphire side-stones
MY personal preference is to take the money your would spend on upping the size (which you will pay exponentially more $$ for) and spend that on getting a higher quality cut, clarity, colour, etc.
The cut to me is most important because it determines the sparkle of the diamond. My fiance got the highest quality cut possible and my ring sparkles across the room! I honestly get complements from strangers about how the light bounces and catches off my ring. That's not the size, that's from the excellent cut.
My older sister has size 7.5 finger and her diamond (wide solitaire band with filigree metal details) is 1.2 carats. When I tried it on it looked ridiculously bulky on me! It looks amazing on her, but I think my finger/hands are just too dainty for anything that size.
Again, it's your personal choice, that's just my opinion!
Addition: Having a diamond pave band is a great way to add/increase the sparkle! I'm having a diamond and pink sapphire wedding band made to match my E-ring to up the sparkle on my finger! :D

It sounds like you are looking for something similar to my ring! I also have small fingers (size 5), so I didn't want anything too huge. I went with a .88 carat center stone with an extra .35 carat of micro pave diamonds in the setting. It's beautiful and I love it! Here's a pic!

how much does it cost to get a ring resized?
Jan 08, 2007 by chocolate_cat | Posted in Fashion & Accessories
i have a ladies18k white gold diamond ring in a size 9.5...its too big and i think i'll need a size 8.5. how LONG does it TAKE to resize a ring, and also, HOW MUCH does it COST?
Takes about a week generally and can cost about $30.
You could get it done faster, but it depends on where you take it and how busy they are.

Can you resize a size 10 white gold ring down to an 8?
Jan 31, 2009 by Tom | Posted in Fashion & Accessories
The ring would contain diamonds but they are in prongs out of the actual band
Bring it in to your local Jeweler. They can usually perform this service for less than $100, and you won't even be able to tell it was ever altered.

Theres no need for tarot cards. Stow away your Magic 8-Balls and Ouija boards. Close the book on Nostradamus.
Forget the supernatural. When it comes to predictions, Im a natural.
As Tony Soprano once said, Remember when is the lowest form of conversation. So let us push aside those year-end awards for 2009 and decade-end awards for the double-ohs, the aughts, the zeroes whatever you want to call em.
Theres no more need to ponder 2009 now that 2010 is under way.
The ball has dropped on the new year. Let us peer into the crystal ball for a preview of whats to come.
JANUARY
Paulie Malignaggi and Floyd Mayweather Sr. will accuse Manny Pacquiao of being a cyborg.
Rogers Mtagwa will knock out Yuriorkis Gamboa.
Luis Carlos Abregu and Richard Gutierrez will have the first candidate for Fight of the Year. Nobody will see it because the fight will begin just before midnight Eastern Time on a Friday night on an episode of ShoBox.
Jorge Arce will fight for a 115-pound world title for the fourth time since 2007, this time against Angky Angkota. This time, Arce will win, and will then sign for a rematch with Cristian Mijares.
Shane Mosley will score a technical knockout over Andre Berto, but the world will continue to forget that he is the number-one welterweight.
Glen Johnson and Yusaf Mack will have the second candidate for Fight of the Year. Nobody will see it because HBO will only have aired Mosley-Berto.
FEBRUARY
Daiki Kameda will outpoint Denkaosan Kaovichit to capture a flyweight world title. Between Daiki Kameda and Koki Kameda, they become the second pair of brothers to hold titles in the same weight class. They will pose for a picture with two men who, individually, are more than the Kamedas combined weight Wladimir and Vitali Klitschko.
Evander Holyfield will stop Francois Botha in Uganda in a battle of 40-something heavyweights. Holyfield will move on to face Oliver McCall somewhere in the Sahara Desert.
