Does anyone know what is the correct way for baby ring test?
Aug 29, 2008 by melissa | Posted in Pregnancy
does anyone know with the baby ring test if it is back and forward its a boy and circle its a girl, soo many different answers on google?
I was told back and forth for a boy and circular for a girl. It's fun....
Boomstick | Aug 29, 2008
I found the same when I googled it too, so to find out for sure try this....dangle the ring over your own hand (underside) if it goes back and forth and your a male then theres your answer. (or circle and your a male, again theres your answer it wont do both) If not convinced dangle it over the palm of the opposite sex then it will swing the other way.
Now try over your stomach you have to make sure that your at least 4/5 months doesnt really work if you're only weeks into the pregnancy.
Good luck!

I found a 5-6" baby ring snake. How can I best care for him. ?
Sep 11, 2008 by Shminigin | Posted in Reptiles
He feels cold to me. I tried to feed him a gnat that I had just killed but he didn't eat it.
I cannot let him go where he was found because he was found inside our school. Yes, my hands are warm and his body is cold but I have since put him somewhere warm. I have contacted our locale university and their Biology department is coming to get him soon and they have the ability to care for him properly. Thanks for your help.
The best thing to do would be to find a wooded area and release it. Ringnecks are incredibly difficult to care for in captivity. Their main choice of food is salamanders. And they eat other hard to obtain food items such as centipedes. They often refuse to eat in captivity, and they definitely won't eat gnats. You can try a worm, but if that doesn't work, releasing it before it dies would be the best option.
EDIT: What does the fact it was found in a school have to do with you not being able to release it? You CAN release it, but it sounds like you just don't want to. Take it to a wooded area and let it go if you care about it. Otherwise, it's just going to die since they are difficult to keep alive in captivity.

Were you able to wear your wedding or engagement ring after having a baby?
Dec 23, 2008 by Your My Whole World | Posted in Newborn & Baby
I wore my wedding ring my whole pregnancy except for maybe 2 weeks that my fingers where a bit swollen. After I had my baby I couldn't wear it my fingers were swollen, I lost the baby weight and cannot wear my ring still. Does it happen to every mother? My baby is almost 7 months, my fingers haven't gotten thinner should I just get it re-sized or does it take a while longer to sometimes be able to wear your rings.
I couldn't wear my wedding rings anymore when I hit about 7 months pregnant.
All of the swelling made it impossible.
I was able to wear it comfortably again after about a week and a half to two weeks.

I wore my wedding ring until i was about 5 months pregnant, My baby is now 6 months old and I had to go from a size 4 to a size 5. They told me at the jewelry place 9 months to gain 9 months to lose, but I couldn't wait that long to wear it, so I had it re sized.

With my son I wore mine the entire pregnancy. I couldn't take them off because of swelling a couple days but it went down. I am now pregnant with my second and I can not wear them because they are to big and they spin. So I am opposite. Hopefully my fingers will plump back up and I will be able to wear them again.

i wore my ring right up until i was 8 months pregnant..that's about when everything started swelling. i gave myself 6 months after my daughter was born and everything else went down to a normal size except my fingers..so i ended up having to get my ring resized. i'd say..just go and get it resized.

I couldn't wear mine throughout my whole pregnancy...but after I had her my rings are too big. I have to get them sized because they practically fall off...:(
Danyelle | Dec 23, 2008
I never had to take my engagement ring off, I wore it even when I was in labor. Then again I lost 23 pounds during my pregnancy because I was so sick.. and yep baby has a FULL head of dark brown hair to show for it :)
infamousshadow2004 | Dec 23, 2008
I've worn mine the whole times.
Feet change size, and ribs, but I'd be worried if my hands changed size.
mystic_eye_cda | Dec 23, 2008
I couldn't wear my rings at the end of my pregnancy, but put them back on when I got home from the hospital. They were a little snug, but within a couple of weeks they fit fine again. I do know people that have had to get their rings re-sized though. After 7 months of them not fitting I think I would go ahead and get them re-sized.

Getting baby bottle ring unstuck from cap?
Apr 24, 2008 by Pregnant with # 2 !! | Posted in Newborn & Baby
I bought a bunch of evenflo bottles [3 4oz size] and the rings to secure the nipple are all stuck in the cap.. and as a first time mom, I'm baby bottle retarded... how do I get them out?
Did you try pushing them through from the top of the nipple? They should pop right out. If they are really stuck, try to soak them for a few minutes in very hot water. If they still don't come off, there's something wrong. You might be able to take them back to the store.
We used Avent bottles. They are a little more expensive, but they last longer, don't leak, and cause less bubbles (so your baby won't be as gassy).
Make sure to wash them every time they are emptied, so that milk doesn't harden in the tiny space between the nipple and ring.
Hope this helps!

Can a bellybutton ring mess up the chances of having a healthy baby?
Oct 11, 2007 by Cookie | Posted in Other - Pregnancy & Parenting
Well, not saying that I'll have a baby NOW, and im not pregnant NOW, but I want a bellybutton ring, and I heard that if you get a bellybutton ring, it could mess up the chances of having a healthy baby. Is that true?
no but when your tummy gets bigger it needs to be taken out because it could split and rip which would really hurt. I got my bellybutton pierced before I had kids and had problems with it, took it out when I got pregnant, finished having kids, and just got it repierced last month. No problems now and it didn't hurt at all this time. If you want it done just keep in mind for the future that when you have kids it has to be taken out, but can be redone after it heals. I waited seven years and had three kids before I decided to do it again. Also, make sure they use a colorless stainless steel barbell, not a ring. Why colorless? because the color can actually rub off into you body and cause major problems, stainless steel is the most sanitary, and a ring is too tight and gets snagged on everything and it's hard to keep clean and move like you are supposed to. Take it from a person who knows, I had a blue titanium ring the first time around and it was infected and I had a cyst within two weeks. Now I have a little stainless steel barbell and no problems.

Snowbound mother delivers baby after mountain rescue delivers midwife The Guardian
12.01.10
Melanie Pollitt's suspicions that the birth of her second child would not be a straightforward affair were confirmed by the foot of snow settling outside her home in the High Peak just as the cramps in her belly were becoming unmistakably regular.
Despite being nine days overdue and snowbound in deepest Derbyshire, Pollitt did not want to force the midwife to trudge up the hill until she was sure that things were beginning in earnest.
So she sat at her computer on Tuesday morning last week and fired off an SOS to fellow users of the Mumsnet website.
"Is this the onset of labour?" she wrote. "I haven't rung midwife yet, as … if anyone is coming out it will be a one-trip job where midwife will have to come to me via our local mountain rescue team and stay till the job is done. Any advice on what to do now or when to ring midwife etc would be greatly appreciated."
The advice, which began to arrive a minute and four seconds later, was unanimous: "Ring them asap I would"; "Mountain rescue? … I would ring them now"; "I am no [midwife], but it sounds like labour to me … How exciting!"
Pollitt, 40, called the midwife. At 6pm, midwife, gas and air arrived in Hayfield courtesy of the Kinder mountain rescue team and its 4x4. The ordeal, however, was far from over.
"Things were fine for the first hour and then the lights went out," said Pollitt. "About 1,500 homes around here were left without power, but the midwife was not fazed at all. She just said: 'Light some candles – some people choose to do it this way,' so we lit all the candles – including the Christmas ones – and the gas fire kept the heat up."
By half past midnight, things had slowed down and Pollitt was beginning to worry she'd need to go to hospital. "Then within 15 minutes my waters went. Then there were 15 minutes of pushing, and after 20 minutes, Jimi Ray came out weighing 9lb 3½oz [4.2kg]."
By Thursday, however, Jimi was jaundiced and had breathing problems. He and his mother were driven to the bottom of the hill in his uncle's 4x4 and transferred into a waiting ambulance. After two days of hospital monitoring and some breast milk, he was well enough to go home.
I tried not to put the kiddos in the 365, but two things about this picture changed that. One, it was a good shot. Actually, the best one of the day.
Two, it struck me that he was born in that exact same spot a little over 6 months ago... in our living room.
