Baby sling (ring sling) fabric question, need to know ASAP!!?
Jan 29, 2008 by Tabbitatt | Posted in Newborn & Baby
Ive come across an auction that has 2 beautiful fabric designs for the ring sling. One is stretchy cotton and one is just normal cotton. We want to use the baby sling in the months of June-December and maybe longer. Both fabrics will be lightly padded. I wanted to know for a ring sling which is better? A stretchy fabric or a less stretchy woven fabric? I dont think our baby will be too heavy as I am a skinny stick and my hubby is asian, both of us come from families with smaller babies.
Thanks in advance!
my ring sling is a non stretchy fabric, and i find it very comfortable.

It depends on where you live. In the summer- even in the northeast, it became to hot to wear a padded anything. We used unpadded slings and they worked out well. Also, remember that it's not just the outdoor temp- but your own body heat as well.
Look at this site:

That may help you out to decide what is best for you!
Ours is a mayawrap and non-stretchy. Also, unpadded.
Good luck and congrats

Mine is normal cotton and it's fine summer or winter. Don't get black. It shows every piece of lint or fuzz!

I have a couple of ring slings, and I'm going to say you want the woven, not the stretch.

Anybody who has made a ring-sling to carry baby??
Apr 28, 2008 by Miranda | Posted in Other - Pregnancy & Parenting
hi, i live in australia and was wondering is anybody knew where i could buy 7.5cm aliminum rings to make a sling baby carrier with.
Thanks!!
sorry, forgot to add that i dont have a credit card, so i cannot get them online..
Hi, my name is Amanda Robinson and I'm the maker of Snugly Bub Slings. Unfortunately there really isn't many places that do sell rings that are appropriate rings other than online. I use stainless steel rings not aluminium so...
If you only need one pair for yourself the best way would be to contact one of the sites making ring slings and ask if they can sell you some and organise payment via money order or direct bank transfer.
Good luck - if you need any other info just ask

A good name for a Baby Sling company?
Jun 18, 2008 by Just A Nice Person | Posted in Other - Advertising & Marketing
I create and successfully sell baby ring slings, and I would like to sell them online as well, but I need a catchy name, that has the word "Mia", as in "Mine" in it. I have been calling them Baby Mia slings, but I don't think it's catchy enough. Any suggestions?
Something clever or catchy, not too cutesy, but trendy.
Suggestions without the "Mia" are fine, also!

Bambinaia Mia (bambinaia = nanny)
Bambino Mia (bambino = baby)
Ragazza Mia (ragazza = girl; ragazzo = boy)
Figlia Mia (figlia = daughter; figlio = son)

Which way to wear your baby??? Ring sling or Baby wrap???
Aug 29, 2008 by Sian H | Posted in Newborn & Baby
Can you please let me know which you prefered. It will be used with a new born and I will be breast feeding. It will be used every day to walk my son to school across a field! Thanks x
I used a sling with my daughter and it would hurt my back after a while. The wraps are nice because they distribute the weight a little better. I'm trying to figure out how to do this with twins, myself. It's really a personal preference kind of issue though, lots of people never get back pain with the slings, I have scoliosis though.

Do you prefer a "Ring sling" or a sling that you can tie in a knot, for carrying a baby on your back?
May 05, 2007 by Just A Nice Person | Posted in Other - Pregnancy & Parenting
From your experience, which do you prefer for carrying a 1 year old on your back? A ring sling that tightens at the shoulder, or a sling that you can tie under the baby's bottom or at your waist? Thanks
It has been my personal experience that ring slings suck. lol. but truthfully, they pull on one shoulder and cut in. Not very comfortable. I would recommend kelty kangaroo, baby bjorn, moby, or hot mama. Moby being the most versitile and the best for birth through toddler.
That babe looks ready to dump right out! And mom looks very uncomfortable, agreed! I love the mamas milk sling I have for my grandaughter… very stylish and comfy! they even make one in a uv protective fabric that’s protection doesnt wash out! Lots of bling and the softest most beautiful fabric with quickchange accessories it has everything you need- no diaper bag! PERFECT!
