Will taking 5-HTP as a natural mood enhancer negatively affect my birth control?

I know that St John's Wort should not be taken if you are on birth control, because it may interact with the pills and decrease the effectiveness of the contraceptive. Will 5-HTP react the same way? Is there a "safe" dosage?
My doc advised me that 5-HTP (100 mg a day) would not interact with my BC. To be safe, I'd ask a doctor though

He has shown no signs of any joint or hip issues but I heard it is good to give as a supplement for large breed dogs.

I checked with me vet also and he said it couldn't hurt. I was just wondering if anyone saw results by giving it before any problems developed.
I totally agree with those who said it is a good thing to start them on anything that will protect their jolints. I have all my dogs on a product from Spring time I will post it in my source box.
I have my pup on it too!

Absolutely. This is a perfect age to start them on Glucosamine products. Especially for lg breed dogs, good for you!
Just to add, products such as these are sold at your veterinarians office OTC.

Before giving any supplement you should consult with your vet. If you are not totally satisfied with the answer, get a second opinion (from a holistic vet if yours is allopathic).

Yes, it is a good idea to start him early with joint enhancers. If you know someone with a 9-12 year old lab who has joint problems, you will know why it is better to start them early. It will help protect his joints for later on in life.

Never give your dog any medications meant for humans, unless you get the okay from your vet. Or, go to www.drsfostersmith.com, they have several supplements that are formulated for dogs and they are reputable and reliable.

By all means.. It is a great supplement to give to help them avoid getting hurt or having problems in the future.. it is in dog foods as a preventative. It's not just to help with a dog who has problems.. It is a preventative as well.

I suggest feeding him a high quality (No corn, wheat or by-product) "Large Breed" dog food which is enriched with Gluclosamine, Chrondriotin, and/or MSM. Labs grow at such an alarming rate it can put some moderate stress on their joints. If he is already two and a half he should be pretty much out of puppyhood. Labs are especially prone to hip troubles, so it is best to nip this in the bud by lubricating the joints as best you an while they are young, especially if you have a very active runny, jumpy, play-y dog :)

It can be given prophylactically (meaning before you see a problem). A good one is Osteo Bi-Flex. Which you can get at like sams or walmart, etc.... I currently am using shark cartiledge from Puritans Pride (can order online) on several of my kids. They have a full line of Glu and Chon and other supplements, all perfectly safe for our pets. Another great idea is to ensure proper nutrition by feeding a species appropriate diet like RAW. You can supplement the dog naturally with lots of natural sinew and cartiledge, right in her actual meals this way. The benefits are really amazing. Ive listed some links for your info.

By all means start now, I have had my 5 yr. old dog on the supplement for awhile. It won't hurt him. My vet said that it's okay to give the g/c/msn human grade supplement but I use a K-9 liquid supplement because it's easy to mix in the breakfast bowl rather that a big pill.

See the only thing that can be extrended, is the back, the legs and arms are muscle based and are elastic so its not usually permanent but what i can tell you is play basketball or jumping jacks or jumprope, anything that can push gravity on your back without causing pain to extend 'em.
For penis size , once again i say! The penis is not a Muscle like your chest, like your arms like your legs, the penis is vulnerable to damage and sensitivity and not as strong, thats why girls kick ya there' so doing it softly, like jelqing - "Google.com type in jelqing" you'll find many matches, even tool sto help.

Promotors are closer to the transcript, and they have a few known motifs, like the TATA box.
Enhancers can be much farther upstream, and matching algorithms aren't really good at finding them yet.
These are not UTR, UTR means untranslated region, UTR regions are actually part of the mRNA transcript. Promotors and enhancers are upstream of the transcript, not in it.

I'm taking it as a mood enhancer for depression.
It takes a while to build up in your system. You should start to notice that you are sleeping better in a few days.
Just don’t mix it with prescription antidepressants, it can have adverse effects. If you are taking any prescription, talk to your doctor before starting any supplement.

today they will start pivotal clinical phase III studies with two
depression drugs.
The candidate drugs Lu AA21004 and Lu AA24530 will be studied in
patients with major depressive disorder (MDD).
The programme on Lu AA21004, which is expected to start in the first
half of 2010, will comprise four clinical phase III studies including
about 2,000 patients in addition to a long-term extension study. The
planned doses are 10 mg, 15 mg and 20 mg.
The clinical phase III studies with Lu AA24530 will start with four
individual trials, including a long-term study and a relapse prevention
study. About 2,000 patients are planned to be included investigating
doses at 10 mg and 20 mg. Selected trials will include an active
reference compound. The programme is due to begin by the end of 2010
and may also include future phase III studies to further investigate
the compound's benefit and risk profile.
Lu AA21004 is a 5-HT(3), 5-HT(7) and 5-HT(1B) receptor antagonist,
5AcaeaEUR~HT(1A) receptor agonist and 5-HT transporter inhibitor.
In pre-clinical studies, Lu AA24530 has demonstrated activities as a
multi-modal enhancer with reuptake inhibition at monoamine
transporters, and antagonist activity at 5-HT(3) and 5-HT(2c) receptors.
