When attaching cuff links, make sure to check all of the way around the cuff to make sure that it's even. Find out how to work with ...

How do cuff links work on a shirt? Do you have to rip off the plastic cuff button and punch a hole in it?

You have to buy a shirt with French cuffs. Those are turn-back cuffs with four button holes. You have to buy the cufflinks, and then you insert them through the button holes so that the link is on the outside of the wrist.

Cuff links not to be used on standard, barrel cuff shirts. Barell cuff shirts have a button on one end of the cuff and a hole on the other end. Cufflink style shirts have button holes on each end. Instead of being folded over like a barrel cuff they are sandwiched together, and affixed with the cuff link. Usually cuff link style shirts are French cuffs where there are in fact four holes.

Maam, you must buy French cuff shirts. And since he is going to dress up, get the four hole per sleeve, not the two hole per sleeve. Time to go first class.

Do women wear cuff links?

I just wan to know if women wear them at work. I have never seen them on a woman but I am curious.

Cheers

I do! but the only shirt i have for cufflinks got ruined- but i still have the cufflinks!

and kenneth is out of his mind! cufflinks on a man are incredibly sexy! hehe... cufflinks left on the bedside table.... oops- mind wandering... sorry!

Hopefully not. I hate seeing them on men.

UMMM <><><><>< no!!! I Think OK ... (SHARON)

No. None of them do.

no

Yes women wear cuff links to work. They look very nice with suits and pantsuits.

maybe because I'm not so sure ok

I think that would be really cool. I have a blouse that ALWAYS sheds the cuff buttons for some reason, and you have given me a great idea!

I think someone should design some for us. I'm no jeweller, so I'll just borrow some of my husband's until they come out.

I think with a suit jacket is ok...maybe a stone like diamond or clear stone or others as well.................

Women do not wear cuff links.

Yes of course, be a leader in fashion, design some girlie bling, go for it ! (maybe take your mind of the other problem ?) lol

wow. is this the best you can come up with?

Cuff links are spiffy! If they don't, they should.

What is an appropriate gift for a best man that's a woman?

The best man at our wedding is a woman, what would be an appropriate gift for her?

Normally I would go with cuff links for a man, but that isn't going to work here.

the same thing you are getting the bridesmaids.

necklace? bracelet?

I just had my wedding and my husband best man was a woman which was ironic for me before but I was okay with it and decided to incorporate alot with her. For a gift I gave her the same gift that I gave my bridesmaids....Also another thing to do is still invite her to your bridal shower...and give her a bouquet instead of a corsage.....Have a blessed one...Congratulations!!!

What kind of casual shirt to wear with blazer?

I have custom made dress shirts with french cuffs that are monogrammed. Would it look inappropriate to wear one of these shirts (like a light blue) tucked into nice jeans with a nice belt and wear a blazer over it? This will be for out of work, so I want the look to be somewhat casual. Perhaps if I wear more whimsical cuff links rather than professional looking ones?

Also, is there ever a reason to wear a shirt (other than a T shirt) untucked when wearing with a blazer?

The functional purpose of turned cuffs is to protect the material from fraying.....Cuffs may be made by turning back the material, or a separate band of material may be sewn on or worn separately attached by buttons or studs. A cuff may show an ornamental border, or have an addition of lace or other trimming.

Having said that... I am rest assured you dont turn back the material... because i believe "An individual's monogram is often a very fancy piece of art for adorning luggage, clothing, and so forth." or for the matter of fact it could just be your loved brand.....

Now.... No it will not be inappropriate to wear one of those shirts... i will prefer T shirts too(since you say its "out of work")..

On your whimsical ...MAN(money authority & Need) its al within you as long as you have the attitude...lemme gaurantee u dont need the looks...when u have the attitude :-)

What should I get my father for Christmas?

I'm running out of ideas! His birthday is during the season so I usually get him TWO gifts and need two ideas. He is single, doesn't dress up much, and works a blue collar job that leaves him with little free time....any ideas? I'd like to avoid adding to his supply of cuff-links, socks, and watches...

Get him something like a hand held electronic card game. Cheap and fun! My dad loved those. A watch. A picture of you two in a frame. (I wish I would have done this!!) A gift basket full of his favorite junk food and candy. Comfy pj's. Nice robe. Slippers.

..All good ideas. Good luck! Enjoy your dad. Dad's are the best. =)

So You Think You're a Fashion Person? Huffington Post (blog)

We are leaving for midnight mass in fifteen minutes, and I look like an utter idiot. Standing in front of the mirror in my childhood bedroom, I try to summon the enthusiasm I'd had fifteen minutes prior for what I was sure was the perfect ensemble for my delightfully WASPy old church -- conservative black silk dress, stacked patent heels and an old chiffon scarf of my mother's. As I stare my reflection, dress and heels are clearly on without incident, but the scarf is causing problems.

What had made me think I knew how to tie a scarf anyway? Lacking scarves of my own, I've never bothered to learn, but have admired the scarf and boater shirt look as much as the next francophile, and never imagined the prim yet louche knot at the neck exceedingly difficult to replicate -- somewhere, perhaps, in between tying shoelaces and tying actual sailing knots.

This is not the case, I learn, as I weave ends madly around each other. Having adopted the mantle of "fashion person" in a familial tribe of academics, I cannot very well go out and ask my mother how to tie a scarf, and my father, currently reading a massive library book on German foreign policy in the living room, clearly has no clue. As the clock counts down toward the departure hour, the scarf takes on a conflated importance in my mind. They won't know why, exactly, but I convince myself that I will make my parents see there isn't such a huge chasm between Harvard and fashion if I can just tie this bloody scarf.

Ten minutes to go. Things at my neck are going terribly. I clack away at my keyboard, googling "hermes scarf tie cannot" and several other nonsensical combinations, only to discover that the wireless has taken this exact moment to take a little silent night of its own. I try to knot the scarf in a prim, posh double knot midway down the front of my dress. I look like a girl who has no clue how to tie a silk scarf, trying to tie a silk scarf. Weird.

I hearken back to to my last encounter with non-jeweled neck ornamentation. Last spring, my friend Kwelina and I wandered into the austere, run down vaudeville of the Bastille to find a thrift store our solitary guide book promised would have scads of hundred euro Dior and Courreges for our consumption - Come on Eileen. After an agonizing hour in Come on Eileen, in which the scowling proprietress both point blank refused to sell me a tan Kelly bag that most explicitly was for sale, and snatched my hand away from a stack of old Paris , Kwelina emerged triumphant, with a mint condition Hermes Les Cles scarf, and knotted it expertly around her neck as an afterthought as the door clicked behind us on the way out.
