i was looking at sterling charms online for my bracelet, and my son saw some that he just loved, like a biplane, an antique truck, etc, and he is begging for a charm bracelet of his own. i tried to tell him charm bracelets are usually worn by girls and he is very disapointed by this and insists these are not "girly" charms. (he is 9) are there any alternative uses for these charms instead of hanging them on a bracelet? would it be dumb to get him a little cord necklace and some charms to put on it?

Let him go for it, it is something a bit different. Most people do put charms on a necklace as well. Treat him, he sounds a good lad to me. P.S . I wear a charm bracelet picked up in Nepal made from yak bones which I add to on my travels.

Listen to them. Men/boys like to talk about themselves and what they think about things. If you want to talk about yourself, ask their opinion of what should you do. Now mind you, this is only a trick, because you should always do what you darn well want to do. But, I've found that keeping my mouth shut and ears and eyes open appeals to men. Also, compliment them on their ideas. Isn't this pathetic?

I want to know what the piece is called that you attach a charm to ring with?

I have a ring that has 2 charms hanging off it but i bought a gold boy charm to attach to it and the boy charm does nt open so i need something that will attach to the bit on the ring that i can put the boy charm onto. I belive its circular but not sure what it is called. Can anyone help.

A "jump ring" would have to be soldered or you could get a "split ring "(kind of like a key ring) that you could put on yourself.

Do you think all boys should go to "charm school" before they graduate?

I always say to my girl friends, "if only the boys went to an etiquette class, they would know how to treat a lady!!" I think it'd be great if boys were required to go to charm class at 16-18 years old. Like teaching them how to speak properly, manners, chivalry... I think it would help us out and THEM , SO much, especially if you're dating. I just feel like so many boys and men don't know how to act properly around women.

Sorry if I offended any of you men who actually know how to respect a women! You are a rarity!!
I am 25 years old and am in a happy long term relationship. I am referring to my single days and when I talk to my single lady friends who are always complaining.
Yes, i agree that ladies should go to a charm school too.

If respect is not taught in the home as one is growing up, charm class at that age would not help. You would have the guys who don't care or the guys that use the techniques to appear charming when they are not. That second group is a bit scary.
