Can I wear a necklace that has a gold chain with earrings that have silver metal?

It's a thin box-chain necklace, and the earrings are a shell stone dangles with silver metal. Is this a fashion faux-pas?

Not that I'm going to change it, but just curious.

yeah.. as long as the silver and gold arent the main things about what ur wearing.. lol.. like the gold chain doesnt have a gold pendant and the earings arent totally silver ..

yes

Yes

don't know if it's a faux pas but...I would

No that's a fashion no-no

I wouldn't, but that's me. My wedding rings are platinum, so I will only wear silver, white gold, or platinum jewlery. Hope this helps, but it probably won't. It's really just your preference.

only if the necklace had silver in it two could you then wear them together other wise dont

you can physically wear them together...they just wont look good

Well I personally don't like to mismatch my jewelry. But sometimes, two different types of jewelry just go together. So as long as it looks good, rock it!

Hi sigma ur question just enthralled me.ofcourse u can & im sure that u'll look good & make it a new fashion.try it baby.

yes but choose innovative designs and carry them off with style

What are the earrings called that connect from your upper ear cartilage to your ear lobe with a little chain?

I've seen these great earrings in a movie: they are connected at the upper ear and go down in a little chain to the regular earring place, the lobe, but I don't know what they're called or where I can get them... please help me anyone who knows something! thanx!

ugly.

but you would get cartilage pierced and a normal lobe, then go to a girly store like icing or claires and they should have a earring that connects the both with a little chair. if your a sucker for pain too, they have fake one that only pierce the bottom then the top part it a bendable ring you can clip to the top of your ear. this was "hott" in the mid-ninties when janet jackson peaked.

Aren't those from "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine"?

does any one know how to make the point on a petersburgh chain necklace or earrings {beading} thank you?

st. petersburgh chain is a beading stitch. i just don't know how to make it go to a v shape for earrings and necklaces. i have looked all over the internet. someone please help me with this.

In Bead and Button, Issue 78, April 2007, there is a St Petersburg chain and instructions. It is for a Lariat, but the method is still the same. If you need further help, let me know. I did go and look at the web site, and they have back issues available, but you can also get just that pattern if you wish.

I have that April 2007 issue of B&B but still found the point to be somewhat problematic. This is for the full pattern, not the half pattern on Alexis' site. I noticed that tension is really important with this stitch. Loose tension can cause the beads to lose alignment, making the point a real mess. Also, the author of the article has you add extra beads down to the point. When I did that I lost the crispness of the point. Since then I eliminate those extra beads (on the bottom side) and instead add another 3mm vertically to the bottom. It accentuates the point and brings everything together crisply.

Good luck! It's a fun stitch, isn't it?

How much would a nice gold chain and a pair of gold/diamond earrings pawn for?

The earrings are small gold hoops with diamonds in them and the chain is a standard gold rope chain. I want to pawn them but only if I can get decent money.

I would definitely would not sell it to pawn shop. You will not get your money worth. If you really want to sell them, you can either try the ad in the newspaper or ebay online or go to ebay store. One time I took my jewelries down to the pawn shop and I felt like I have been punched in the stomach for what they were willing to pay. I also became a goldsmith few years after that happened. They do only give you what is worth of how much gold is today and then they weigh it and then give you certain percentage of it like 75% of what it should be worth. The pawn shop either sell it to wholesale precious metals or goldsmith for a little more money than they gave you but the wholesale precious metals company will give them what today worth and then take 25% out of it as well. It is kind of going in circle.

Where can you find earrings for pierced ears but have a chain and a clip on part?

A friend of mine has these earrings that go through the ear like a regular earring, but it's hooked on a chain and then there's a clip on the end to go up higher on your ear. I don't know what they're called to look for them on-line. Anyone know what I'm talking about?

Try etsy.com and search for ear cuffs. I love the website, I love supporting small businesses/artists.

You'll probably get good results if you just google ear cuffs as well. Good luck!

Gift-giving advice for the newly dating | Philadelphia Inquirer | 12/23/2009 Philadelphia Inquirer

It was the couple's first Christmas together, and Kimmika Williams-Witherspoon wanted to make it a special one.

The Temple professor takes holidays very seriously, especially Christmas. It reminds her of her own happy childhood, when it seemed that her parents made all of her material wishes come true despite challenging economic times.

So for that first gift-giving holiday together, Williams-Witherspoon carefully chose a suede jacket for her beau. She selected two or three jazz CDs she thought he would like. And as if those gifts weren't enough, she purchased one more big gift: a GPS, she recalls. Or was it a wine refrigerator to help fulfill his inner sommelier? In any case, it was thoughtful and special and memorable.

His gift to her? Socks with beans in them. You know, those foot-warmer things you put in the microwave before wearing? Oh, and a matching neck warmer.

"They were very uncomfortable and incredibly ugly. It was the beginning of the relationship so I tried to smile, but it was horrible," recalled Williams-Witherspoon, 50, of Darby.

Ah, the dangers of December dating - a minefield, particularly for the newly coupled. To buy or not to buy? And if to buy, perchance to dream? How big, how expensive, and how personal? What happens if one half of the couple goes for the gold while the other half doesn't even show up for training?

The Internet is awash in advice right now. Lisa Daily, author of Stop Getting Dumped! , writes that anyone in any relationship, even a new one, should expect to give and get a gift. Self-proclaimed cyber-dating expert Julie Spira says people should keep it simple: a card and a box of chocolate - "fine chocolates," she stresses, so avoid the dollar-store selections - to show you care.

But Rich Santos, the dating diaries blogger for Marie Claire magazine, says if there's any question about gift-giving, it's safe to assume it's not happening. If you're still on the fence, he recommends the forward approach, asking straight out, "Are we doing gifts this year?"
