What are those cotton string bracelets everyone is wearing?

They are like big, thick bracelets. You weave them and they then shrink in water and are bound to your arm. Most are tan colored and people wear them as anklets and bracelets. They are also more popular in the East Coast.
What are they called, if they have a name?
Plus, exactly what kind of cotton string are they made from?

ahahaha the new thing in my school is just ALOT of braclets and we usually make the braclets with just like cheep soft string you can buy at like a walmart but mark sure its small string [:

its called a sailors bracelet there usually made of cotton

They are typically called sailor knot bracelets (or nantucket bracelets) and they are really popular during the summer.

What are the rules on wearing bracelets and anklets?

Which arm or leg should you wear a bracelet and anklet. And give the me reason why.

I've heard that wearing an anklet on your right ankle means you are single and looking and left means you are taken. I haven't heard of any rules for bracelets. I think you just wear them to balance out your jewelry on whatever arm feels more comfortable.

I wear lots of bracelets and bangles in the summer (5+). I usually have them on both arms, but most on my left. I have two anklets on my right ankle, one I made out of twine and the other is made of shells and beads that I bought at the beach last summer. I love wearing all of these in the summer. They look cute with casual clothes.

Good heavens! There are rules??

Sandy

the rule is when you become aware how silly it is, you stop.

The rule is not to use them without trusting your partner and never in a way that truly frightens you, or them.

I don't know there isn't a rule...now a earring is different and that goes for boys.

I don't know, I would say that the rule is whichever you feel more comfortable with.
The reason why? Simply because as long as you can make yourself more comfortable, why not?

Rules?

However, my otherwise extremely liberal and non-judgmental father does say that only tarts wear anklets.

.

I know what you mean. If I knew the answers you are seeking I would answer you. I have heard that wearing things with rainbows on it is a sign that you are gay or a lesbian.
I just don't know anything else about that kinda of thing.

It doesn't matter, either left or right as long as you feel comfortable when you wear it.
But for more comfort, bracelets with bulky and dangling charms should be worn in the arm which you do not use for writing because I have experienced that it could be uncomfortable not having to lay your hand flat on the table when you write because the charms get in the way of movement.
As with any other accessories, it should match the color of your dress.

It does not matter. That whole 'wear it one one side or you're gay' thing is false, and went out in the 1980s. Wear it however you want.

You are either very young or very dumb...there are no rules for braclets and anklets, or any form of body adornment for that matter. Wear what you want when you want.

I think most people who are right handed wear bracelets on the left arm.And vise verse. But I don't know about the anklets

OK, if your talking about wearing a pride colored bracelet or anklet. Wearing it on the left hand means you are gay and if you see someone wearing it on there right hand, it means they are gay friendly. Other then that, I don't think wearing any other bracelet or anklet anywhere would mean anything. Only if your talking about the pride colors, then obviously yes. There are some other meanings to that, but I'm not sure what you are asking exactly.

Why aren't ankle bracelets more poular than they are in the western world?

Every woman I know owns at least one bracelet or necklace, usually they own many, so why are anklets so rare in comparison? I have a large collection myself and I always wear one or sometimes two round each ankle, but I have only seen a very small number of other women do this. A lot of women will wear more than one arm bracelet, so why not ankle bracelets as well? I also occasionally wear a slender gold bangle round my ankle, but I've only ever seen two other women do this, why is that? I think anklets look very feminine and sexy as long as they're not over done.

ithink this is because years ago you were classed as a prostitute if you wore an ankle bracelet... stupid i know ...but its still lingering with other things that passed from...olden days when people were " prim and proper" and the class status was important... but its gradually phasing out and so it should .... some things take longer than others tho ... but wear yours and enjoy they do look really pretty ....

yeah i think so tooooo
now when i come to think f it i think thats true
thanx t is a gr8 idea
ill get a chance to try it out soon

I don't know. I have a few of them myself but I can't find them amid the crap in my messy room.

uh... i thikn you should appreciate that other people dont do it. it makes you more individual. Why would you want to be just one of many? Its better this way.

usualy indian women and the arab ones. They are not too common in the western world but I'm mad about . I don't have one cause i want a precious one .

girls still does wear them...???
im almost @ level 2

a lot of people in the professional world frown on wearing them

my wife wears them in the summer...I think it is sexy

Now, I wonder the same thing. I love them and wear them alot, as well. But alot of american women are just to fat to wear them on their cankles.

Because you have to wear them with flip-flops and people (not me but people) who have foot odor will wear them, and then we will suffocate.

In the west, ankle bracelets are sometimes viewed as tacky.

Someones said, "You must be the change that you wish to see!"

yea ankle bracelets are sexy! well, dont forget the origins of the ankle bracelet, which is more eastern than western. this perhaps is the main reason.

if you look at indian women, u'l notice most wear them all the time, as its part of the eastern societies cultures. if this style was adopted by many girls here in the west in the past, then it would have grown as another accessory a girl should posess!!
however, not many western women wear them.

in my opinion they are very stylish if not over done, as you said :)

M

anklets are for cheap hookers.

I, personally, hate anklets because they remind me of the early 90's when everybody wore them by the pool. Plus, I think they look trashy.

Tattoos on women, cool or just butch?

Some tattoos look okay on women, but sometimes the butterfly on the back and anklets get boring. If a woman had her whole arms covered in tattoos would it be cool or just too butch??

I agree,too butch.
I have one tatoo, which i`ve never regretted, but can`t say i`d get anymore. If you`re thinking of a tattoo my advice is to get something you know you`ll always like, don`t just go with the latest fad.

“Boys Before Flowers” Commentary - Episode 6

(I know I said I’d post this yesterday, and it’s technically TODAY, but life got a little busy. But hopefully the length of this post “makes up” for it. I won’t even tell you how many pages this is on Word lol.)

Because I am aiming for the dork-of-the-year award, I have purposely split my watching of this episode over two nights. I mean, I like this show so much that I don’t feel like watching any of the other shows I’m in the middle of. WHICH IS STUPID! But… I love this show. Have I mentioned that yet?

And I’m actually really surprised to learn that some people are actually reading my commentary posts, because I feel like they’re pretty embarrassingly pointless. I will try my best to up my writing and work at making them more comprehensible. I also want to write more than just initial thoughts, so I am going to try out appending my original writings with more contemplative opinions (re: fangirling).

Tuesday night: UH, now is definitely not the time to watch anything (it’s bed time!), but I will give into this show any day of the week.

I will definitely watch until there is a good stopping point though, because I want to watch some tomorrow night too.

Wednesday night: I have been dying to watch this all day!

Episode 6. Spoilers!

Haha, I wanted to watch so I could know what was going on! THE SHIRT REMOVAL SCENE! Although I suspect he’s just going swimming LMAO. Haha, yeah! Jun-pyo is so funny. He knew he exactly what he was doing

(Am I the only girl in the world who doesn’t go crazy over a shirtless guy? Yeah, it’s a bit more rare to see in Asian dramas, and the fan-serviceness of it all can illicit a few chuckles, but… I don’t know. I’m like. “OH. It’s… just a chest.” HAHA, Jun-pyo is unfortunately no exception for this thinking, but I think it’s extremely amusing at how funny this scene played out. Poor Jan-di keeps thinking that Jun-pyo is a complete wolf. But you have to admit that throughout the episode, it’s hard to tell what his intentions are until he mentions them later.)
