I am going to make a piece of hemp jewelry for my best friend. Should I make her a bracelet, anklet or choker?
Jan 20, 2008 by Amanda V | Posted in Fashion & Accessories
She has worn all of these in the past. I don't think she is partial to one over another. What do YOU think I should make? I can't make up my mind.
bracelet, definitely. :)

Jul 09, 2007 by teetee | Posted in Fashion & Accessories
Is their any meaning behind the leg its worn on?
nope no meaning. I wear mine on the right side but it realy doesnt matter.
Y. S. B | Jul 09, 2007
ladies usually wear it on their rite leg..i dont really kno wat it means though
Monique449 | Jul 09, 2007
i believe the left leg is the best leg
BROKEN AND BEAUTFUL | Jul 09, 2007
i dosent mata what leg. you can choose
i_am_me_no_mata_wat | Jul 09, 2007
It doesn't really matter on what leg they choose to wear it on. But I prefer on the left leg. =)
Human Nature | Jul 09, 2007
I've never heard that what ankle you wear an anklet on has any meaning. It's all a matter of personal preference. Mine's on my left simply out of random choice.
Cat | Jul 09, 2007
no meaning what so ever. i would usually put it on the right leg. but it's really what it is more comfortable on.
Hey There Delilah....... | Jul 09, 2007
left-taken
right-single
mayte | Jul 09, 2007
Doesn'y matter. I'd say if you have a lot happening on your left side of your body (like side pony on left, bracelet or purse on left you'd wear it on the right. vis versa.
So it doesn't truely matter but try to balance things out.

I like wearing lots on the leg opposite my writing hand. I feel that it works better that way and that your spreading the style around! Be stylish, be creative make life interesting!
Nkeiruka M | Jul 09, 2007
If your right handed put the anklet on your left and th other way around!!!!
Sexi Blonde | Jul 09, 2007
it pretty much has no meaning, but if you come from a family where they believe in superstisions and stuff like that.ask someone from your family.sometimes it could mean something to them.
tues <3 | Jul 09, 2007
I always wear mine on the right side but I never really thought about it having a meaning.
britty | Jul 09, 2007
It's really up to your, which leg yo wear your anklet on.
If you wish to follow the Hawaiian/Polynesian tradition of a girl wearing a flower in her hair - on the right side means the girl is single & available, on the left symbolizes that she is attached or spoken for.

does anyone no which ankle a anklet bracelet goes on that shows i'm straight?
Jul 25, 2008 by abbinewhousex | Posted in Fashion & Accessories
cause currently i have it on the left but im unsure :/
The only thing i'd ever heard about anklets was that in years gone by (no idea how long ago) hookers used to wear them on the left, which is why i always wore mine on the right!
Andromeda Newton™ | Jul 25, 2008
Either. I have never heard of one ankle being gay. I think that is only for ear piercings..
thewordsicantsay | Jul 25, 2008
Wear one on both ankles to be on the safe side,------ no go with the first answer.
useless | Jul 25, 2008
I'm pretty cirtain thats only for ear piercings, you can wear an ankle bracelet on either foot.
But if you want people to know your straight try wearing a sign saying 'I'm a hetrosexual' on your head!
Chunk | Jul 25, 2008
It was a sign that "You are on the game".
JOHN B | Jul 25, 2008
don't matter but a lot of men may well think you are either a tart or a prostitute
Dark Crusader | Jul 25, 2008
Left me dear. Right if you are on the game.
MICHAEL D | Jul 25, 2008
What a silly question, how old are you? 12
bottomburps | Jul 25, 2008
uhm my mom always tells me to wear it on my left, just like you would a wrist watch.
frankie | Jul 25, 2008
Tsk tsk, so homophobic are we? After looking at various web pages this is what I found...
Either ankle is fine but hookers wear them on the left.
Many gay men wear them and so I am going to make Adam buy me one.
Thumb rings and ear rings used to be the big thing to show if you were gay or hetero but no longer. Although I must admit I was detemined to do the thumb ring thing for a while.
Caleb F | Jul 25, 2008
I hope that there is no distinction. I have only my left leg and often wear an ankle bracelet.

Can someone tell how to make a simple anklet bracelet????
Apr 09, 2007 by Jasmine | Posted in Fashion & Accessories
Check out the following site:
http://www.mediamessage.com/kayton/GirlScouts/bracelet.htm
There are 4 simple patterns to get you started.
The simplest of all is to start with 3 strands and just keep crossing the 1st strand over the second and then under the 3rd. After you do this, the 2nd strand will be first, the 3rd second, and the 1st third. You renumber the strands from left to right and just keep repeating the process until you have the desired length. You then tie off both ends with a square knot so the weave does not come undone.
Ankle bracelets are going to be really popular this year, so make one or two for your foot before summer gets started. They look really good with flip flops or just bare feet. A lot of people love to wear them in the summer. They look really good.
Enjoy!

Monitoring device's use questioned Pittsburgh Post Gazette
09.12.09
An electronic monitoring device strapped to the ankle of a man charged with killing Penn Hills police officer Michael Crawshaw could not have prevented the crime, nor was it designed to, say experts in parole and probation.
The electronic anklet, commonly worn by offenders who are under court supervision or on parole, can show a parole agent when a convict has left his home, but cannot track his location, raising questions about the purpose and effectiveness of the device in the wake of the Sunday night double homicide.
Citing privacy concerns, Leo Dunn, a spokesman for the state board of probation and parole, would not discuss why Ronald Robinson, 32, of Homewood, was placed on electronic monitoring nor would he specify his curfew restrictions, which were given to him as a condition of his parole from prison in August 2007.
Mr. Robinson was one of about 240 state parolees -- retail thieves, drug offenders, murderers -- wearing one of the black transmitters, about the size of a cigarette pack, around their ankles so agents can see whether they routinely violate curfew. Experts on the state and county levels say they work because most parolees who wear them complete the supervision program do not commit new crimes.
"It's not the equipment that does not work, it does what it is supposed to do," said Allegheny County's probation director, Jim Rieland. "But you're dealing with human behavior. If someone wants to walk out of their house and go do something stupid, there is nothing in terms of electronic monitoring that is going to stop them from doing it."
On the county level, there are as many as 1,200 people wearing anklets on a given day, ordered to do so by a judge, usually as part of sentencing, Mr. Rieland said. The vast majority are DUI offenders.
The anklet communicates with an in-home device that is attached to a phone line, which sends alerts to a computer screen at an electronic monitoring office in Castle Shannon. Authorities watch the screen around the clock, Mr. Rieland said. When an offender breaks curfew, a staff member first calls his house to see if he is home. If still uncertain, a probation officer might visit the offender's home, and can get an arrest warrant if it is clear the person is not home.
