does anyone no which ankle a anklet bracelet goes on that shows i'm straight?

cause currently i have it on the left but im unsure :/

The only thing i'd ever heard about anklets was that in years gone by (no idea how long ago) hookers used to wear them on the left, which is why i always wore mine on the right!

Either. I have never heard of one ankle being gay. I think that is only for ear piercings..

Wear one on both ankles to be on the safe side,------ no go with the first answer.

I'm pretty cirtain thats only for ear piercings, you can wear an ankle bracelet on either foot.

But if you want people to know your straight try wearing a sign saying 'I'm a hetrosexual' on your head!

It was a sign that "You are on the game".

don't matter but a lot of men may well think you are either a tart or a prostitute

Left me dear. Right if you are on the game.

What a silly question, how old are you? 12

uhm my mom always tells me to wear it on my left, just like you would a wrist watch.

Tsk tsk, so homophobic are we? After looking at various web pages this is what I found...

Either ankle is fine but hookers wear them on the left.
Many gay men wear them and so I am going to make Adam buy me one.

Thumb rings and ear rings used to be the big thing to show if you were gay or hetero but no longer. Although I must admit I was detemined to do the thumb ring thing for a while.

I hope that there is no distinction. I have only my left leg and often wear an ankle bracelet.

Is it true that wearing ankle bracelets (anklets) is inappropriate?

My mom told me that a friend of her lived in England all her life and she told her that it has a bad meaning when girls wear them?
Can someone explain this in more details and please if it's rude to wear them, how did this originate?

It means someone owns you, its still used in Russia, alot of prostitutes wear them.

never heard of this. i live in USA and a few very well to do women at my work wear them.

Maybe it does in England, it doesn't here in the States.

I've never heard of that. I live in the US. The only thing I can think of is that (and I don't know how old your mom is, but) your mom grew up in a time when skirts had been longer but were getting shorter. Ankle bracelets would draw attention to the legs, which was not wanted by "decent" people.

in india large number of girls and women wear anklets, it does produce sound while walking so that obstruction in the way are cleared
it might be inappropriate in USA bcoz of local omens

Every country has their own stuff. If they are bad in england, don't wear them there. Here in the US it is perfectly normal and have no bad meaning.

Plus, all of the meaning of different clothes is just crap made up by kids. While wearing a blue shirt on Wednesday might make some middle school kids giggle, to normal people it means nothing.

I have never heard of this. I have many friends who range from 35 to 72 in age that wear anklets. They are a piece of jewelry just as any other. It has no bad meaning in the United States. Not sure about other countries.

It has different meanings. Some women wear them to signify that they are single and others wear them to promote that they are taken.

At which stores or brands, in general, will I find ankle bracelets?

I'm looking for a store that sells ankle bracelets, anklets, whatever you want to call them. Rope, metallic, anything. Help? And girls, which material or deisgn do you like in one bracelet like that?

All major stores have them (Target, Walmart, etc.). Any store that sells earrings and accessories has them too.

The best thing to do is to make your own. Buy some twine or hemp and some beads at a craft store and make something original for yourself. It will look better than anything you buy in a store because you created it. You will also want to show it off to your friends more.

Hemp anklets with beads look great in the summer and go with shorts, jeans, and just about anything else casual. I think gold and silver look too dressy for the summertime.

My girlfriend made me and her matching hemp anklets last summer. She tied it around my left foot. I thought it looked good on my foot when I wore cargos or jean shorts. It compliments flip flops and looks really hot if you are just walking around barefoot like we did at the beach.

Claire's, Icing, uhm.. Tiffany and Co, any department store is going to sell stuff like that, Brighton(great store for that stuff) and possibly you could find things at stores like Chanel, LV, or Dior.

I suggest you go to the mall near you. At the mall they usually have vendors that have booths all over the middle of the mall. Some of them sell jewelery and they will more than likely have ankle bracelets. Also, another place you can go to is a jewelery store which will definitely have ankle bracelets. I really think that you should pick whatever material or design that you like. You don't need to ask the other girls here. Just go by your gut instinct.

ummm... sorry to tell u this but ankle braclets are kinda out of style.. srry

what do you think of a man wearing a toe ring and ankle bracelet?

im straight and make custom jewelry .the wife suggested i wear a toe ring and anklet to show off my line of jewelry .it works and i like them ,ladies seem to like the look as well, sales have gone up !

The toe ring seems odd - dare I say even a little gayish.

Most men wear ankle bracelets made of hemp, twine, or leather. I am wearing a hemp one my girlfriend made me right now. I think they look good in the summer with cargo shorts/jeans, flip flops or bare feet.

Men should not wear metallic ones or dainty shell or beaded anklets. I think that looks too gay. Provided the anklet is masculine looking it should be OK.

It sounds like you are wearing them more to boost your fashion line and not because they reflect your personality or attitude. If the jewelry is for women, you should tell your wife to wear the stuff.

Given your marketing strategy, please don't branch out into thong bathing suits.

SCRAM ankle bracelet, will it effect the size of my ankle and calves after 8 months?

I'm not sure where to ask so here I am once again with another question. I've been on the SCRAM ankle bracelet (which monitors my body for alcohol so I do not drink) for 3 months now and I have another 4 months to go before trial. I really do not care for drinking so the bracelet doesn't bother me and I've become use to it so it no longer hurts my ankle/calves but I do have a problem. I have small ankles, therefore they had to make the anklet tight on me so it stays placed next to my skin which also had to be pulled up a bit right under my calves so it doesn't slip down. They've already detected that I took it off once (which I never had) b/c it had slipped down to my ankle and no longer touched my skin, I was worried so I've been pushing it up against my calves very tightly so it stays put to get me from being called in. The thing is now my right side calves seem to look smaller than my left. When I do get it off in late July will my 'R' calves remain smaller than my left forever?
bmac: thanks for your honest answer. I checked myself into a chemical dependency program at a counseling clinic but they said they only serve level 5 alcoholics or something like that and I needed a level 2. I also told the counselor that I wanted to attend AA and she doesn't recommend me to, she gave me another program which she think would help me, it's a woman sobriety program so I am already looking into these suggestions. I guess my next question is a lot of ppl suggest AA but why did the counselor recommend something else?

I'm guessing some atrophy has occurred on that calf. This means you've lost muscle mass due to muscle inactivity. in this case, do jump ropes while hopping on that one leg. A simple way to get it to the same size as the other leg.

Courts Urged To Make More Use Of Ankle Bracelets To Monitor Alcohol Offenders ... Medical News Today

A company that makes personal electronic alcohol monitors that secure to the ankle like a bracelet, is urging courts in the US to make more use of the devices over the holiday season, when there is usually a peak in the rate of alcohol-related offences.

The period between Thanksgiving and New Year is a busy time for courts, and part of the reason is increases in alcohol-related offences, such as driving under the influence (DUI) and domestic violence, according to a statement from Alcohol Monitoring Systems (AMS) in Littleton, Colorado.

Using ankle bracelets as a way to make sure alcohol offenders stay off the booze came to public attention in 2007, when actress, model, and pop singer Lindsay Lohan was photographed wearing one after re-offending for driving over the limit less than two months after crashing her car while under the influence of alcohol.

According to a recent article in New Scientist, these "anklets" are "transforming the way alcohol offenders are dealt with in the US": over 100,000 people have worn them since they came into use in 2003 and there are currently about 10,000 in use.

Earlier this year, the Probation Department of Montgomery County, New York, announced it was going to start using AMS anklets to monitor the blood alcohol content of convicted drunk drivers.

County Probation Director Lucille Sitterly told NY Daily Gazette, that the plan was for offenders to wear the Secure Continuous Remote Alcohol Monitoring (SCRAM) device throughout the day. Every half hour, the device would measure wearers' alcohol level through their sweat, and relay the day's readings to officials in the evening. The device readings are transmitted via a modem installed in the person's home.

Sitterly said they were attracted to the idea because currently the only way to monitor people ordered to abstain from alcohol when convicted of driving while under the influence, was through a breath analyzer like the
