The stud/nostril screw is recommended over the ring since rings are more prone to getting caught on things.

My sister unearthed a bunch of old 1980's cheap costume jewelry that is made of various types of cheap metal. Is there a way to clean costume jewelry or is there a costume jewelry cleaner I can buy? I'd prefer NOT to buy something.

Yes,I know the method because i have done that rightly!
You don't need to spend tons of money on expensive cleaners to remove tarnish from your costume jewelry, when you can use toothpaste? Most costly costumer cleaners include a mixture of baking soda and water, which is similar the formulas used in most tubes of toothpaste. Not only will using toothpaste save you money, it is also non-toxic and easy to clean up.

Steps:

1. Choose the right toothpaste. The key to using toothpaste as a costume jewelry cleaner is the baking soda. Do not use gel toothpaste, as it usually does not contain baking soda. And, avoid toothpastes that boast tartar-control or whitening power, as they may include chemicals that can harm your silver.
2. Use a soft dampened cloth to clean more delicate jewelry or softer silvers. Wet the silver and add a dab of toothpaste. Remember that a little goes a long way. Rub gently with the moistened cloth until polished.
3. Add a bit more toothpaste if the cloth becomes dark with tarnish and continue cleaning. Simply wash the darkened toothpaste foam from the jewelry piece, rinse the cloth and begin again.
4. Scrub your costume jewelry gently with a toothbrush for stubborn tarnish or hard to reach grooves. Try to find an old worn toothbrush or buy a new soft-bristled toothbrush to prevent scratching.
5. Rinse the polished costume jewelry in warm water and dry with a soft towel.

Tips & Warnings

* Toothpaste is an effective cleansing agent not just for your costume jewelry but also for your larger silver pieces.
* While toothpaste may be the best and most economical method for cleaning costume jewelry, it can be abrasive and may scratch more delicate silver items. Always test a small area first, in order to determine whether your jewelry piece should be cleaned with toothpaste or not.

By the time christmas comes we will have been dating for four months. If I get her jewelry, what kind should I get her. i cannot decide between a necklace or a ring. is it too early for a ring? thanks.

Well, it may be just a little bit early for a ring, but what's most important is the way you feel about her. I think a necklace would probably be the most appropriate and safest bet at this time. The ring can come later! There's always Valentines Day and her birthday down the road. Good luck!

I have had my belly button pierced for 2 years and all of a sudden it's getting itchy and uncomfortable and I think it may have something to do with the jewelry. I honestly don't know what it is, can't be great though cuz it was less than $20. It's beginning to get a little dark (the piercing). If I change the jewelry will that help the darkness go away?

You need to remove your current piercing and retire it:) Let your belly button heal and clean it. Upgrade to a surgical steel belly button ring or 14k gold (Not Plated).

Man charged with murder in spectacular Boca Raton jewelry heist ... - Palm Beach Post

Oscar Gonzalez-Londono, 29, was charged with robbery and second-degree murder in the May 8 death of Wilmar Andres Sierra-Perez.

He is charged under the unusual legal concept of felony murder, in which one criminal can be charged if an accomplice is killed by someone else, even the victim.

In court this morning in West Palm Beach, Judge Ted S. Booras ordered Gonzalez-Londono held without bond.

Boca Raton police plan a 4 p.m. news conference.

According to reports, around midday on May 7, Miami-area couriers Leon Rozio, 64, and Timoteo Humberto Garcia had gone to St. Moritz Jewelers, 21310 St. Andrews Blvd., near Town Center mall.

Rozio had been waiting outside the car when a vehicle boxed him in. He saw two or three men smash out the windows of a car and take a bag of jewelry, worth about $100,000, from a floorboard, then leap into a sport utility vehicle.

Rozio said he drew his 9mm Ruger and tried to shoot out a tire, and the SUV backed toward him. Fearing for his life, he fired several shots at the driver, he told police.

The remaining robbers fled the SUV and leaped into a white Chrysler Town & Country minivan.

Perez, 29, was taken to Delray Medical Center, where he died. An autopsy showed he was struck once in the back.

The white van was later found at the nearby Sears store with three bullet holes in it.

He had started carrying a gun after he'd lost about $300,000 in gold and jewelry in a Miami Lakes holdup three years earlier.

In September, a police report said, Boca Raton police contacted a Houston police robbery task force focusing on attacks on jewelry couriers.

The Houston officer said his unit had learned the alleged Boca Raton robbers were committing similar crimes in the Houston area.

On Nov. 24, the Houston officer said two suspects had been arrested on immigration violations.
